Adventure Bands Charters
By law those choosing to be adventurers, should become a member of a Chartered Adventuring band. By law they are the only people allowed to carry weapons and wear armour on their own merit other than nobles. These Charters cost 500 gp when founded and a further 300 gp a year is expected to keep it in good standing. They are also expected to pay a 15% tax on any recovered goods or coin found in the realm but this is rarely enforced. Charters can be issued by any noble Court, though outside the capital, a further fee of the court is likely to be required. with in the capital, this is handled by the Court of Charters, usually headed by a Sibling of the King, or more rarely a son or daughter. The wait largely depends on the season, the Spring is the most popular time, and it can take weeks for new charters to be created. Renewals have priority but often are much shorter.
Requirements to found an Adventuring band are as follows:
- Having four or more members, none of which may be wanted within the Kingdom by either Crown or Noble.
- All members must be willing to swear the adventure’s Oath to the Kingdom.
- A symbol must be provided, that will be worn on a grey background by all members at all time within the Kingdom. This simple cannot resemble any coat of Arms within the Kingdom nor any other Currently Adventuring Band under charter. Ten years is generally the time left for disused symbols to become valid for use again.
